Berkeley Town Football Club is on the edge of this historic town which boasts one of the best maintained and furnished castles in the country.
The Castle entrance is just a short walk from the town centre and entrance ticket includes an interesting, guided tour plus access to the gardens and can be used repeatedly throughout the year. It is here that King Edward 11 met his gruesome death.
Berkeley Town centre is just a five minute walk from the football club where you will find pubs, shops, cafes and a fish & chip shop, opening will be subject to government restriction.
Also, Dr Jenners house & gardens which is open to the public is nearby. It was Dr Jenner who pioneered the vaccine for smallpox.
St Mary's parish church has some splendid mediaeval wall paintings also the tombs of the Berkeley family and Dr Jenner.
There is a bus stop outside the Foot Club grounds to Dursley & Gloucester.
Directions:
From the A38 Bristol / Gloucester road take B4066 for Berkeley. Before entering Berkeley, turn right at the roundabout onto the bypass. Turn left at the next roundabout on to Station Road towards Berkeley Town Football Club which is about 100 yards on the left.
